The multiplayer for Halo Infinite is free-to-play, and it is available now for players to check out. Since the game launched, players have praised the look and feel of the gameplay. One of the reasons the Halo Infinite multiplayer has received acclaim from fans is the selection of weapons found on the maps. However, it looks like these options are about to increase.
Recently, Joseph Staten, 343 Industries Head of Creative, unveiled new info about the future of multiplayer in Halo Infinite. During a recent interview with Game Informer, he revealed that more weapons were coming in the future. Despite revealing that new weapons are coming to the multiplayer, he chose not to name any specifics about what to expect. "If I told you, they wouldn't be secrets now would they?" he said.
While Halo Infinite has brought back some classic guns from the series, such as the Sniper Rifle and SPNKR Rocket Launcher, the game has introduced several original weapons as well. It will be interesting to see if the developer innovates with new designs or brings back more classic weaponry from the series. If 343 Industries chooses the latter, it has no shortage of iconic guns to introduce into the weapon pool for Halo Infinite, such as the Magnum pistol and the Covenant Carbine.
In addition to adding guns from previous entries in the Halo series, it’s possible weapon variants from the Halo Infinite campaign could make their way into the multiplayer. So far, different variations of the Cindershot have been spotted in footage for the campaign. It would be interesting to see how these different versions of guns already in the multiplayer would change the gameplay.
While Staten decided not to reveal the date for when new weapons would be introduced to the multiplayer, he noted 343 Industries’ plan for introducing new content to Halo Infinite. According to the developer, the goal is to add new content on a seasonal basis. If this is the plan for the studio moving forward, it appears that the next possible time for new guns to be added to the multiplayer would be at the start of Season 2.
Unfortunately for eager fans, that means that they are going to be waiting a long time, as the next season starts in May of 2022. However, the company is no stranger to surprises, as it unexpectedly launched the multiplayer for Halo Infinite several weeks ahead of schedule. Time will tell when new weapons eventually make it into the game.
Halo Infinite releases on December 8 for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The multiplayer beta is available now.
